US to spend $14 million on concussion research, using NFL funds

Another PR stunt by the NFL. If the NFL was really concerned about their players then why did they employ Dr. NO (aka- Ira Casson) and Elliot Pelman to help CONCEAL and mislead NFL players about dangers of concussions and repeated hits to the head? Football is hazardous to your health. The league did everything possible to discredit Dr. Bennett Omalu who discovered CTE in deceased NFL players who committed suicide. Ask Dr. Omalu about how the NFL tried to squash him but he never gave up. Dr. Omalu even spent his own money doing the required research. The real question is what did the NFL know and when did they know it? When the NFL opens their books and records then and only then will the truth be known.

Roger, NOBODY believes you anymore!

TOOOOOOOO bad NFL because your dirty deeds and GREED continue to dominate the sporting and human interest news. No where in Corporate America could any for profit business treat their workers the way the NFL does. Especially a non profit business like the NFL that grosses $10,000,000,000 annually with an anti trust exemption. The NFL doesn’t even pay their medical bills. The Federal Government (medicare) pay’s their medical bills for their injured and disabled employees. May be this is one reason why medicare is going broke and the NFL’s revenue continues to sky rocket………….

Every retired player knows the 14 million is a smoke screen to delay the process for another 5 to 10 years. We need to file another lawsuit in court stating the evidence and correlation is already present to prove that CTE is a type of tauopathy through ELISA kits and MRI imaging. Tau Protein is CSF is the leed indicator for dementia. If you have tau proteins floating around in your skull you have onset CTE. This is a stall tatic on the part of the NFL. If we can get 1- 10,000 neurologist to sign of to the court that this condition can and has been measured, we can the NFL propaganda.

    Independent players:

The Commish is dancing again and throwing peanuts at the PR machine to continue to deny what has been proven. Many of us have scans and professional diagnosis regarding the use of the head and the continuous trauma from are playing day. Dr. Amen has studied 150 of us and the results are consistent with the studies on CTE. Who will study the issue now?

How do we put the pressure on the NFL? Can we sue again and who represents what seems to be a giant boondoggle.

The present day fan admits it is a problem; their logic: but the players know and they make big $. If you mention the time in the early day, they have no clue and do not even relate to the era, conditions, style of play, or anything else. They were not born or are pretty old and even senior to many of us. I was recently called a dinosaur when discussing it with a group on guys.

We have a situation that the owners can settle but the greed is so strong that it may never get done.

    Merry Christmas to all..
