Simplest Take on New NFL Hit Rule

Nov 4, 2010

And a little Friday humor: A couple of weeks ago, Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe figured out a simple take on the NFL’s new no-hit policy. He caused an uproar when he posted a note and picture on Twitter about the hypocrisy of how the new rules are supposed to be applied. Sadly, he’s not far off from the reality of how things really work in the NFL. Here’s the intro news clip from Twin Cities FOX News (a couple of big hits right at the start of the clip – click on the PLAY arrow >):

And here’s a snapshot of that whiteboard (slightly censored) for reference. Any questions?

    Dear Roger Goodell,

This hit is not a video game! But I’m sure that you guys already decided it was a legal hit while riding around in John Madden’s bus across the country talking about concussions.

The integrity of the game is subjective and insidious because there IS no standard! Just as there is NO standard with the pernicious NFL Disability Plan that was designed and created by the Groom Law Group.

After decades of denial from the NFL, they now (sort of) acknowledge that even one hit to the head can cause serious brain damage. So we strongly encourage the player in this video to save a copy of the clip before his name and number get scrambled for his Disability Board hearing in the future!
