Burt Grossman’s Money: Part 3
Luke ,
.
I’m still waiting for someone to produce anything at all that I’ve received this money, and where is the W-2 you said the Eagles were sending me two weeks ago?

And here are the two letters that Burt’s attorney, Daniel Anastasia, sent last week and with no reply as of this post (click on thumbnails to enlarge for reading).

And this letter just went out today to attorney Thomas Depaso at the NFLPA:

And here are Burt’s earlier e-mail exchanges with Luke Patton from the NFLPA Benefits Dept.:

Burt,
.
In 1998, when our records indicate your Severance pay was distributed to you, Severance policy required that players request their Severance pay in writing. That letter was to be sent to the NFL, the NFLPA, and the last team the player played for (the team being the one to pay the check). The money could not be sent out without the player first submitting this request in writing. Therefore, our records would not indicate the money was paid out unless a letter was received by the NFL, the NFLPA, and the Philadelphia Eagles, requesting that your Severance money be paid out. Again, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.

I never received these funds I am 100% sure. They would not have sent them out of the blue four years after my retirement; they didn’t have my address. I checked my bank along with my 1998 tax return as well as my W-2s from that year and there is nothing.

Our records indicate that you already received these funds on 6/30/1998 from the Philadelphia Eagles. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional retirement benefits questions.

Hi I was just informed I qualify for severance pay that I never received for seasons 1989 through 1994. How do I go about filing for these funds?
.
Thank You

Burt,
I have forwarded your request and the details of your situation to the NFLPA Legal department, which is considering filing a grievance on your behalf.
