I feel that everyone should get something if we’re supposed to be in this together. I believe that I’ve lost more than most. My severance pay was taken because the NFLPA LAWYERS got outsmarted by the Browns lawyer. Dave says he gets just $40,000 – I get $24,000! I can’t afford my meds some months nor the food that a family of 5 needs. Some months it’s tough to go on but I have 3 kids in school and they need me. I could use some of that money to repair a hole in my ceiling and so many other things.

I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE MY STORY WITH THE MEDIA.

I don’t feel it’s right to leave out the ones who are not on the list. If you’re a retired NFL player, we should all be paid something because we’re all supposed to be in it together.

Alonzo -

Unfortunately, yes – if your name isn’t on the list, you won’t be included in the settlement distribution. As Bernie Parrish pointed out in an earlier post, Kelly Skubick, the young lady servicing the Players Inc. GLAs said in Oct. 2008 that she served over 3,000 retired players included in Players Inc. Group Licensing operation. How the list went from over 3,000 to a little over 2,000 is a mystery and she no longer works for Players Inc./NFLPA and can’t be located at this time for comment. Perhaps grounds for another lawsuit for mismanagement? Or fraud? Maybe those 1,000 players and their money left the building at the same time as Gene Upshaw?

And that’s another reason to take this opportunity to remind everyone once again to make sure that your information IS updated with the firm distributing the checks so they can get the final paperwork to you in the next week. You MUST get this filled out and returned to them postmarked BEFORE February 9, 2010 in order to receive your checks.
