Re-Inventing the Wheel… Over and Over and Over

Nov 6, 2009

CDC MTBI Study CoverIt turns out that the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) turned out a very detailed study on MTBI (Mild Traumatic Brain Injury) and it was released to Congress… back in 2003! Their findings are dramatic and conducted with the kind of solid methodology that all valid studies need to follow. In the Appendix, they even document the various methodology and criteria used to monitor MTBI in the U.S. And they have layer upon layer of real experts in both research AND methodology to ensure the integrity of their study. The subtitle? “Steps to Prevent a Serious Public Health Problem.” (!!!)

We would hope that the NFL MTBI Committee is well aware of this study and won’t waste any more time and money – and lives – putting out more fluff. Their efforts remind us of that Bud Light commercial from Superbowl XLII in 2008 – cavemen inventing the wheel!

The continued incongruous actions by the NFL certainly should merit a re-examination of their anti-trust exemption.

I continue to point out that their actions are incompatible with ERISA Law and their own plan documents and are inconsistent with the image they try to project.

And Thanks, Maxine Waters, for having the courage to say at the Congressional hearings in Washington DC on Wednesday October 28, 2009, “it is time to remove their anti-trust exemption.”

    We agree!

    Sincerely,
