I read Dave Pear’s “Another Shot from the Left” post blog and oh, how true it is. Now The NFL is bracing to give the retired players an uppercut to the solar plexus or stomach. This just might be a fatal blow to our NFLPA as we know it. Members, please be aware of the attempt by some members of the NFL Alumni to surreptitiously take control of the NFLPA by amending the NFLPA Constitution Regarding Retired Players. One example is that their Bylaws will be amended to provide that, among other things, “<strong>THE NFLPA RETIRED PLAYER STEERING COMMITTEE SHALL IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO REMOVE CHAPTER OFFICERS FROM THSIR POSITIONS. WILL HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH AND WHEN INDIVIDUAL DUES ARE PAID.</strong>" There are many other changes that will virtually take away the few rights we have left as an NFLPA member. Gene Upshaw did not represent us. If these changes are made in the Constitution, we will not be able to represent even ourselves. Remember, the NFL Alumni was originally created by owners to run competition with the NFLPA. If these changes succeed, the Retired Players may cease to be a part of the Active Players Association. If this happens Retired Player’s benefits and insurance may become null and void.

Hi George,

Steve Largent asked me over a year ago to remove him from my contact list for the blog. Steve is part of Commissioner Goodell's hand-picked ALLIANCE, so I suppose he must curry favor to the hand that feeds him. He had actually contacted me earlier on behalf of Commissioner Goodell but apparently once they realized what we stood for, he decided to sever any contact with us.

At this time, the <strong>ONLY</strong> retired players that support the NFLPA or the NFL fall into one of these three categories:

1) Employees of the NFLPA or NFL;

2) Business partners;

3) Those who have direct or indirect financial gains (in some way) by supporting the actions of the NFLPA or NFL.

The vast majority of retired players (possibly as high as 95%) are treated as the enemy and are <strong>NOT</strong> part of this inner circle.

Steve Largent was a great player; however, he is no friend of retired players that are not part of this small inner circle that curry favor to the League for profit.

Largent is part of the whitewash that Commissioner Goodell and the NFLPA have been using in an attempt to mislead Congress on pension/disability benefits for retired players.

Nothing more than a PR stunt!

Where in the hell is Steve Largent? He's a big time lawmaker now. Is he in there swinging with Dave Pear or just sitting on the sidelines? It's time to take the gloves off and start kicking ass. Everyone who has ever played this game should be pissed.

Lou attended a John Madden golf tournament in Pismo Beach way back when, to help John have a successful golf tournament.

Who would have known that today he would be using retired players' blood, sweat and tears to make money for himself and non-retired players? And not even consider them at all in his success for making money. It was all founded on players from the past.
